Cherry Picking

Hi everyone!

So we are still on vacation in Idaho, we get back home to Alaska in one week.  But in this next week it's supposed to be full sun for the entire time.  It's like Mother Nature finally decided to let the Pacific Northwest have a little summer weather.

With such good weather we decided to head up to Greens Bluff and pick fresh cherries.  I'm pretty sure my littlest Steampunk ate more than he put in the bucket. We came away with 7 lbs of Ranier, 3 lbs of Bing, 3 pints of Marion berries and 2 pints of raspberries.    The berries barely made it home because we all kept sneaking bites here and there.

Here are some of the pictures from yesterdays adventure.

I Heart Antique Rings on the Front Page!

Hi everyone!

My ring called I Heart Antique Rings made it to the front page of Etsy today! I create this ring from antique barn nails, copper handmade rivets (that I make) and brass that I hand pierce the heart out of. This is also the ring that made it into Etsy Finds a month or so ago. I just ordered more nails from my supplier thank goodness! Here is a screen shot of the front page.

Etsy Madness Blog Feature

Hi everyone!

So today my work and myself are the Featured Artist Friday for Surviving The Etsy Madness  I wrote this interview a little bit ago and so some minor things have changed a bit, I still pump out treasuries, I still have a hard time keeping my stock above 50 but I HAVE had some one question the price of a ring.

I really love the way Iveth from The Angry Weather put it when some one questioned her pricing... "I don't sell a little piece of silver, I sell my work."  Of course I didn't think that quickly the first time it happened to me but I've now got that retort in my pocket and will use it the next time some one questions the price of one of my pieces.

I will be loading pictures of our super fun time at Silverwood yesterday, everyone had such a good time, we spent the majority of the day at the water park so by the time we all got home we were pretty exhausted, in a good way :)

Until then!

Treasury Made Front Page of Etsy!

Hi all!

A treasury I made yesterday...twice because I accidentally deleted it when I was finishing up the tags, made it to the front page of Etsy today!  The last time I had a treasury I made hit front page was back on May 13th or something. So to say I was excited would be a gross understatement.
We are headed to Silverwood tomorrow so I will post pictures from our fun time there at Boulder Beach and then on the fantastic roller coasters. Should be fun!

Until then!

Life According To My iPhone

Hi All!

So my Nikon is in the shop getting cleaned and hopefully repaired.  Not to worry I did not drop it, it's just not been performing as well as I think it should.  So I have decided that while it's away being serviced I should use my iphone a lot more.

Many of my photography professors, when asked what was the best camera they owned replied "The best camera I own is the camera I have with me when I need to take a picture.  If it's my large format then that's the best, if it's my Nikon well then that's the best, and just last week my iPhone was the best camera I ever owned."

So as of right now my best camera is my iPhone. I thought I would share some pictures taken on it recently.

I'm totally digging the vintage safety glasses my littlest Steampunk was rocking in the garage the other day.

Until next time!

Vacation time in Idaho

Hey All!

So we are on vacation...sort of... in Couer D'Alene, Idaho where my parents live.  The weather is for sure different here than back home in Juneau.  I think I need to purchase stock in Popsicles with as much as we go through them:)

The sprinkler has been a big hit with the little Steampunks.  And has given me time to fill orders and work on new pieces.  I have quite a lot to get done so the sprinkler and popsicles are my new babysitter. Well it's better than plunking them down in front of a T.V. :)

I have some super exciting news that I can't quite tell you about...hopefully soon.  I know, I hate secrets too but I promise this one is worth it.

Until next time!

Etsy Dudes and Broken Bones

Hey All!

A new piece from the Men's STEAM line made it into Etsy Dudes yesterday!  After only being debuted for 6 days I think that's pretty stinking sweet.  It is a part of a series called The Better Half Of Me and is more or less a His & Hers set...but can be purchased individually.  They are custom made upon order from upcycled belt and copper/brass sheet metal.

Here are some pics

I am supposed to be in China right now, helping to teach conversational English, but my Mom had a nasty biking accident that required titanium rods, pins and wire to pull everything all together. After her surgery she also developed pneumonia so I flew out to beautiful Idaho to help she and my Dad and enjoy a little sunshine south of Alaska :)

I figure while I'm here I could find new inspiration for upcoming work and also maybe try to figure out some new suppliers. I'm always blown away at the price difference.  For example, up in Alaska I was paying 7 dollars per belt, ( I calculate that into my price) I went around here and felt like I'd hit the lottery!  Every place I went belts were going for .50 cents!  Needless to say I hit every place I could find and will continue to do so until it's time to head back home :)

I will post pics of what we do here in Idaho next week!
Until then,

What I've been working on...

So I have been creating like mad to up my stock in my Etsy shop before I head off on vacation.  Mr. Steampunk will be staying in Alaska...while the kids and I fly south for a few weeks, he will be shipping out all the orders and such in order for the shop to remain open.  Poor guy, I keep trying to talk him into buying a ticket and coming...if only for a few days...with us.  But he's an accountant and tickets cost money, something he doesn't take parting with very well :)

So he and our pooch Reuben will have fun fishing in the evenings and on the weekends while the rest of the crew is south.  The men's line will debut at the end of the week. I'm almost finished with the new collection and will feature them here on the blog first, before I list them.

Until then!

Happy America 4th of July!

Hi All!

Okay true confession: I still get the goosebumps when I see an American flag waving in the air, I tear up when the national anthem is played at hockey games and a soldier walking by has my utmost respect and gratitude.  I love this American life I have been so blessed to live and I can't think of a more fun day to celebrate all that we have as a country have accomplished and overcome.

Today was so much fun for the Lawlar crew.   We started out heading over to downtown Juneau for a festive parade and then made our way to Sandy Beach for another parade, lots of games and plenty of food.  All three Lawlar crew members are tired to say the least but full of candy and happy thoughts :)

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July and are ready for the (YAY) short work week.  I love three day weekends.  When we arrived home I checked my facebook and saw that another Alaskan friend has posted this
Pretty sure there were more firearms - concealed and otherwise - at the parade in downtown Wasilla than there are in the security forces of Macy's Thankgiving Day Parade every year. I love this place.
I couldn't agree more!
 Until next time,
~Angie~

Wishing on Squirrels

Please let me catch you today.... Please let me catch you today....Please let me catch you today...Please let me catch you today....

Poor buddy, never catches that little squirrel that sits on the fence and watches him.
