Barn Nail Bling For The Alternative Wedding Band

Hi everyone!

Okay so I'm going to debut what I've been working on lately here first.  Are you ready for this...?

I've taken an antique iron barn nail and set diamonds (gypsy setting) into it.   I've put a patina on the barn nail ring to make the diamonds stand out more.  I've not listed this on Etsy yet...I'm still contemplating whether I should or not.

I love taking old objects and cleaning them up and turning them into something that will last another lifetime.  I love continuing their story and that is how I feel about these barn nails. They have already stood up to the test of time, they came out a little rough around the edges, a little dirty but still good and still workable.  Adding precious stones makes them more valuable in monetary means, but their historical value and the value to the farmer who's barn they held up for years can not be priced.

Keep checking back I'll be adding more sneak peeks of things and I'll be posting pictures this weekend of the First Friday Art Walk.

A Walk In The Woods

Hi everyone!

Here is a picture guide of our drenched walk in the woods over the weekend!

It's a bear!  No it's a wolverine!  No it's just Reuben happy to be out in the rain:)
This puddle is screaming to jumped in and my little fuddy duddy Steampunk just walks through it.  Poor Puddle.
Got My SLUGS on!  These are the greatest bootliners made!  You can get them here from my fellow Alaskan/Etsy friend, Rayana White.  Isn't she so talented?  I think so.
Yes kind of blurry picture because of the rain, that is rain blurring the picture people!  It was pouring, like I've never experienced before:)

The mushrooms that have been spouting up are AMAZING!

Seriously, don't these little guys look like something on Mario Bros?  Like the Toadstool guy, right?  Reuben saw me looking at something up close and came barging in stomping them over...right before the picture!  Stinker, I think he did that on purpose.
Well, until my next drenched adventure I hope you have many dry ones!

New Work in the shop!

Okay so I've been slaving away in the shop to prepare for for Fall/Christmas and also because the First Friday Art Walk is coming up here in Juneau and I've teamed with Kodiak Coats to debut Steampunk Funk.  I also have 3 little Steampunks headed to the first day of school tomorrow.  While I have a teeny bit of time I thought I'd show you what I have new in the shop.

This piece was made from an old wrench:)  That sucker was hard to hand forge...just saying.

And trying to get a drill bit through it with out breaking? Well....forget about it.  I got one drill hole through and had to come up with another sturdy way to attach it.  So I used commercial fishing twine to attach it to the leather.

This next piece isn't new really, but it wasn't getting the love I though it deserved and figured it must have been because my pictures were not up to par. So while I had some down time I retook the pics and it has done wonders for it.

I will be downloading my iphone pics today of our drenched woodland walk.  I have learned to rely on my iphone for a lot of pictures here in Juneau because it would be so much less expensive to replace than my Nikon if it get's ruined from the pouring rain:)
Until then,
~Angie~

Refinery 29

Hey Everyone!

So woke up this morning feeling not so great...still having issue with allergies, and I only wish it was seasonal. Nope this is the skin is covered in hives type allergies.  Not to worry, they put me on even stronger steroids than the last time.

So as I was making my coffee and checking email I happened to check my shop stats and noticed I was having quite the activity going on.  Then I noticed it was coming from a place called Refinery 29  Checked it out and found that they had featured my men's wedding band!  Such a cool morning, even with the hives.

Last Nice Day?

Hi All!

So yesterday Mr. Steampunk came home and told me that he was talking to a co-worker who, with a completely straight face told him this past Saturday might be the last nice day we have THIS YEAR!  Umm...aren't we only in August?  Don't we still have September, October, November and December before we hit the new year?  If it doesn't stop raining soon I might well start believing the co-worker:)

I am happy to say my camera came Saturday morning and I was able to capture some pictures on our possible Last Nice Day :)

My little clown
Check out the teeth on that sucker!  Mr. Steampunk handled this fish very carefully as not to be the victim of a territorial salmon bite:)

She fished the majority of the time so pictures like this were few and far between
I think everyone should have a view like this...Yes those are hives completely covering my legs.  I'm still dealing with a few patches but it is much better than it was on that day I took the pic:)

Until next time!

Industrial Ring

I made this ring from a 1930 railroad date marker and an antique barn nail.  I only have 5 of these date markers but not all of them will become a ring. I've still got some design ideas that I can't wait to start putting together.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

Hi All!

So I was browsing Etsy and thought I would share a few of my favorite things.
The shops that make these lovely items are :  1. Amanda Archer Collection  2. Button Soup Jewelry  3. Honey Pie Design  4. Itz Fitz!
I LOVE everything about this dress!

So whimsical and lovely
These pillows would brighten up any space and I really want them
Doesn't this look like something Martha Stewart would love?  I might need to get this for next spring/summer

P.S. My camera is still in the shop...I'm calling Nikon tomorrow to find out when it will be here.  I'm having withdrawals and I'm a teeny bit worried that I won't be able to photograph my fall line before it debuts.  Keep your fingers crossed!

I Heart This Etsy Shop

Hi all!

I have an Etsy friend...I probably should have conversed with her about that first, but I do hope she feels the same way...Anyhow she is an AMAZING photographer.   Meet Angela Lang from Chic Photo

She has been a professional photographer for 15 years and has some of the most beautiful pet portraits I've ever seen.

Don't you just love the expressions she captures?

If she lived close I'd have her come over around Halloween and take pictures of Reuben all decked out in costume.  Sadly....no one lives close enough to Juneau, including Ms. Lang :)
Angela also has some stunning wedding and baby photos on her Etsy shop as well that are well worth the look.   I just happen to adore dogs and have been away from mine for almost 3 weeks now so I'm missing him quite a bit.  Not to worry, I get to see him on Saturday and I have my bag loaded with new treats and toys.

Also check back, I purchased a new dog toy from another talented Etsy seller and once I get home to take pictures of Reuben with it I will post them on here.

Until then!

Life As I Know It, According To My iPhone

Here are some pictures taken through out the week with my iPhone.   My Nikon is still in the shop being fixed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I get it back soon:)
I completely wore him out.  Score 1 for Mom  0 for Littlest Steampunk
Rocking my sunglasses looking like a mini body guard

"Mom, do frogs go to Heaven, or do they just stay in the grave yard I made them?"
Ummm....Wait... what? You made a graveyard?!

Avid little Putt Putters
Doesn't this bring back childhood memories?

Until next time!

While I Was Fishing...

Hey everyone!

First off, I will be headed back home to Alaska on Saturday. It's been a very loooonng vacation, but filled with lots of fun and great memories for my little Steampunks and I.   I do have have to say I am really getting excited about Steampunk Funk's fall line.  I've been jotting down notes, and logging ideas for quite a while and can't wait to show you all what I've come up with.

So onto the real news. While I was out fishing with the little Steampunk's and my Dad I happened to check Etsy from my iphone (not because I'm addicted to Etsy but because I was genuinely curious as to how Etsy's day was going)  Much to my surprise there is my Vintage Child's Jack on the front page!

So here is the screen shot.  I will be posting pictures of our fishing excursion later on.
