In my previous post I addressed reasons as to why we chose Africa or more to the point why Africa chose us as the continent we will adopt from. Too many times we turn a blind eye to the atrocities that plague our world. Evil men that commit awful crimes against humanity continue to haunt the lives of millions. Hitler, Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, Felicien Kabuga and Joseph Kony are just to name a few.
Many of today's genocides are committed in Africa. The Congo, Rwanda, Sudan, Uganda. Did you know that in today's world, there are more slaves than there have ever been? And slavery is happening in America still. We put a new lable on it...Human Trafficking. Children being abducted and sold into slavery, little girls being forced into sex slavery. It's an awful subject, one that most of us just don't talk about or think about. That is our first mistake in the matter, shying away from the uncomfortable subjects. We need to be aware of the situations in order to help. We need to step out of our comfort zone in order to make a difference.
2 Timothy 1:7 states "God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.
I urge you to take 30 minutes of your time and watch the following video. Educate yourself, know who is out there and what they are doing. Because in knowing I hope it will move you to make a change, make a difference, to step outside your comfort zone. Besides, all a comfort zone is, is a recharging station. Recharge your batteries and get back out there and fight for what you know is right, and fight for those who can't stand up for themselves.

Hi Angie, It has taken me a bit to get through your last few posts and watch the movie offered here. I am hoping that all this comes together for you, and I believe it will based on the guidance you have received to date. Interesting that you posted this now, as I am currently reading Immaculee Iliagiza's book "Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust." If you haven't already read it, I most certainly would recommend it. Thank you for bring this "KONY" to our attention. I will definitely check out the website. Take care, Vicki
ReplyDeleteOh thank you for the tip on that book, I will most surely be checking that one out.
