It Was Nice While It Lasted
The sun left us on Sunday. The weather man is calling for rain the next 10 days. I'll just keep looking at this picture and wait for the next bout of sunshine:)

Slow Down Please
Dear God,
Please make time slow down. You see, I've got this boy that I quite like, well actually I'm kinda madly, head over heels in love with him. This boy is special. You see God, this boy and me, well we go way back. I was barely 19, it was just me and him at first. He was my person, he listened with big quiet eyes to all my sorrows and my heart aches, he loved me with no judgment. He laughed at all my silly faces. There was so many future unknowns and he trusted me with his whole little being that I would get us through, that we would be okay.
I was his person. I was there for all the tears, all the hurts and booboo's. I was there for every first moment. I would walk through fire for this boy. And God, well time is just going too fast. You see, this boy, who came into the world weighing 6 lbs 13 ounces is now 90 lbs. And while he started off at 21 inches long he's now eye level with me. And God, I was his first love and now there is talk about all these other girls that have stolen his heart...and I know there will be more to come.
God, I worry that his sweet little heart might get hurt and I'm just not ready for that. I know he's only 12 but in 3 years... 3. Short. Years. I'm going to be sitting next to him in a car and teaching him to drive and in 5 short years I'm going to be taking his last "First day of school picture." So I'm asking you, please make time slow down so I don't have to let go so soon. God, I really love this boy.
Sincerely Yours,
Angie

Heat Wave
Hi Everyone!
This weekend was actually kind of hot here in Juneau. I swear all the kids thought they were melting. We had to keep telling them to remember that this is what summer is like in Coeur D'Alene. How quickly they forget :)
We had a full day of baseball on Saturday but because it stays light for so long we took the kids to the glacier for a swim.
How they can stand that cold of water is beyond me. But we were not alone at the glacier pools. So many locals had the same idea :)
The kids slowly warmed up to the water and the fun began.
Both Rusty and I do not take for granted the very cool experiences our kids have had here in Juneau. This probably tops the list of cool and unique things to do. We know that we will not be in Juneau forever. We knew that moving up but we also knew that while we are here we will love every minute, be thankful for every moment and make the most out of our time. We did just that this weekend.
On Sunday morning, Rusty and I got up and ran 18.22 miles on Douglas. It was actually a better run than the 17 we did last weekend. It was still gorgeous out when we got home so we cleaned up and packed up our bikes, lunch and some sand toys and biked out to Boyscout Beach. White sands, the low tide, and sunshine made for a few hours of more fun in the sun. We came home completely tired and happy. A breeze kicked up late afternoon and our sunshine was gone and the rain came in.
It's been windy and rainy all morning here. I might have to head to the craft store and pick up more oven clay for the kids to create with. The weather man is calling for rain the next 10 days and my art box is running low.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Brave
Last night we took the kids to a late night showing of Disney's new Pixar movie Brave. I was a little worried Maddox would be a total crab because he had played outside in the sun all day long...he proved me right and was:) When he got his blue slushy things got better though.
Brave turned out to be pretty cute. It had some parts that were more for adults then kids. So if I had to compare it to anything I'd say it was more like a Shrek with bathroom humor than it was say Beauty And The Beast. But the kids and loved it. And the graphics were fantastic, even for 2D which is what we saw.
We got home around 11:30 and everyone went straight to bed. They are all still asleep and I'm making my coffee with my camping coffee press because I forgot to get coffee filters at the store yesterday. Have a great weekend everyone!

He's Home!!!
Oh my goodness, how I've missed my little buddy this week. I'm not kidding, the Lawlar family figured out pretty quick who brings life to the party.
Maddox.
The house was ridiculously quiet this week without him. And I learned that I love our roudy, loud, rambunctious, happy, loving house. Granted, I also love sitting downstairs at night with a cup of tea and it being silent. But what makes those moments priceless is the knowledge that my babies are upstairs tucked snugly in their beds sleeping safe and sound.

Clowns And Sunshine
It's been gorgeous today. Riley has been a total clown and cracked me up all afternoon. I love spending time with my kids.
This one is almost as tall as me, a 7th grader and growing up waaaay too fast. He's my sweetheart, so seeing him goof off like this is pretty fun. I'd expect it from Maddox but not usually Riley.

Operation De-Frustrate Phase One
Thank you MOSSER for making such adorable little moss terrariums, and thank you Rhubarb Studio for having the coolest cloches around and thank you Wiggett's for having awesome old gears. All three have brought I smile to my face and and a lower blood pressure to my heart each time I walk by my piano. I'm feeling more zen as the day goes on. Up next...a long run and some chocolate.
P.S. we are nearing about a month till the marathon! This past weekend we ran 17 miles on Sunday. It was tough but it didn't kick our butts. This coming weekend is an 18 mile run.

So....over the past few weeks (months really, since March) I've been desperately searching for an agency to complete our home study. We have started on the Dossier but with out someone to write up our home study we are deadlocked, stalled, stuck....frustrated. Where it stands right now, if we can not find an agency here in Juneau...the capital city of Alaska, we will have to fly someone in from either Fairbanks, AK or Washington State to complete the study. But it doesn't end there, not only will we have to fly them in to start the study but we would also have to fly them back for the post adoption follow up. Oh. Joy.
Let's just tack on another 5,000 dollars if we have to do that. Not to mention that I spoke with the agency out of Fairbanks and was told not to get my hopes up that they could make it out here anytime soon because they only have 2 people on staff currently. She actually referred to the month of November...seriously?!
I knew when we started this entire process that it would be a test to my patience. I knew that. I just didn't know I should have started looking for ways to handle it back then.

Sneak Peek
Sterling silver cuff, oxidized, hand textured with copper Forget Me Not that was given a nice green/blue patina. I can only control so much of the patina process and the rest is left up to fate. I quite like the fate of this patina job:) On the inside I've stamped the word HOPE. I plan on listing this piece as part of the adoption section in my shop.

Camping Trip According To My iPhone
Here are some pictures taken on my iPhone from last weeks camping trip. For those of you who haven't read the previous posts, we packed all our gear in about 4 miles to a forest service cabin on the beach. Best. Trip. Ever!
Last Weeks Camp Trip Pics
Hi Everyone!
Camping last week was so much fun. One of the best camp trips we have EVER done. The only thing I would change is what we bring to eat. There has got to be something better than those dehydrated meals. They are awful. The best thing we ate those 4 days was the fish we caught. There is nothing like bringing a fish right out of the water and cooking it.
The minute we got to the cabin whale tails and sea life were all around. We saw a pod of orcas, loads of humpback whales, sea lions, sea otters, jumping salmon, loons, eagles galore, and plenty of bear signs, thankfully we didn't actually see any. Out there we have brown bears...really NOT something I want to run into.
It was such a relaxing time. No cell phones, no computers, no emails. Just us and the kids and fishing. We are for sure going to try it again. There happens to be another cabin on the cove a little ways further that we might try out next time.

What's a camping trip with out a bb gun? We put marshmallows on branches for target practice...shhh, don't tell anyone but I kicked the boy's butts at shooting ;)
Breckon is our fishing fanatic. She will fish for hours, you have to drag her away for anything else.
And of course what is a trip without our 4 legged pal? I think he was much happier on this trip :) To see his last camping trip click HERE.
I will post the pictures from my phone in another post. All in all it was a camp trip to remember and makes me so thankful that we get to raise our kids in Alaska. It's such a wonderful place to live...bad weather and all.

A Camping We Will Go
Hi Everyone,
So we are all packed and ready to hike us and our gear 4 miles out to a forest service cabin today!!! We are super excited to spend a few days chillaxin by the ocean, fishing and enjoying our rainy June weather :) Actually I'm hoping that maybe it will not rain. Even it there isn't sunshine, I'd be happy just so long as it's not raining buckets. But we have all our rain gear ready anyway.
This is the first time we've done anything this hardcore. We will have no running water so we have to bring things to decontaminate the water, we have to pack in our own fuel for heating, not to mention all of our food and clothing and sleeping bags. It's sink or swim time for our youngest, Maddox. This is a hike we did a few times last year and one of us were usually carrying him part of the way on our shoulders. But with all of our gear we won't be able to do that, we will also need him to trade off and on with Breckon, carrying a backpack.
I'm sure we will have our ups and down but I'm so excited to just get away from it all. We will have no cell phone service, no computers, just us and our fishing poles and our kids. I've finished up all my open orders, put the shop in vacation and am ready to just be.
I'll post pictures when we get back!
P.S. *Adoption Update* I mailed off our formal application and paid our first 1/4 of the agency fees! Thank you to all of those that have donated money to help out, we greatly appreciate it! I also found someone to help us with our paper trail and home study. Finding someone to complete our home study was the hardest part of that whole beginning process. Dossier here we come!

Farmer's Market Envy
Hi everyone!
One big thing I have truly missed since moving up here to Juneau are the farmer's markets. When we first moved to Coeur D'Alene, ID I would get up early and jog to the Farmer's Market and pick up fresh Huckleberries for breakfast pancakes on Saturdays. As well as grab a cup of coffee and enjoy all the hubbub.
As far as I'm aware, we don't really have "farmer's markets" here in Juneau. Not to say that we couldn't. I mean we have a community garden and I've been told many people have chickens. We might need to have little tents or some sort of covering because of the rain....kind of like Pikes Place Market :) Only smaller. We have the seafood too, geeze we could really have a cool little market on Saturdays now that I think about it.
Anyhow, I'm pretty sure if we did have a market here in Juneu I'd not be able to wear this to it....

Well I can dream, and I bet you one day we have a sweet market. We are just too cool of a town not to. On the other hand if we had that kind of a market then everyone would want to move up here....so it's probably best that we don't. I quite like Juneau the size it is :)

A Little Humor For Your Day
Hi Eveyrone!
I just had to share my little morning coffee chuckle. So I give myself around 15-20 minutes on Pinterest in the morning before I head up to the loft to start working. So this morning this is what I found...

Doggy Blogger Guest Post
Hi everyone!
So I've got a good one for you. A guest post from my buddy Reuben, who happens to have the strongest feelings about our Memorial Day Weekend Camp Trip. I thought it might be fun to hear all about the trip from a dogs perspective. Welcome Reuben!
Hello 2 Leggers,
So you want to hear my thoughts on the Notorious Camp Trip? This picture sums it up nicely...
Three words.
Wet
Cold
Hungry
They made me hang out with a massive bloke (A Great Pyrenees to be exact) that I just know wanted to eat all my food. So there was only one thing to do. Bury it. Yep, I buried all my food and my water. Do you know what it's like trying to eat soggy, muddy food? It's not pleasant. Then. Oh then. My two leggers made me a "shelter."

Seriously...?!
It really went down hill after this. Pictures don't lie.
On day two I was ready to run...away that is.
The only satisfaction I got that whole trip was the fact that my 2 leggers let me sleep in the tent with them while the Pyrenees had to sleep outside.
Thank you for allowing me to rant. Peace out 2 leggers.
~Reuben~
Psssst...Angie here again, I've not told him that we have another camp trip coming up in two weeks and then another 10 days after that :) Fingers crossed it's sunny.
Here are some pictures from a persons perspective....
Everyone's shoes were soaked so we had to try to dry them somehow....now they all smell like campfire
Cinnamon Rolls in the dutch oven for breakfast
Chocolate Pecan Caramel Turtle Cake in the dutch oven, S'mores are so overrated ;)
Even though S'mores are overrated, they are still a camp tradition :)
So there you have it. It was wet, cold, and took a week for all our gear to dry out. But it was still a great time with friends and family and that is all that counts.
~Angie~
